Blood Clot (DVT) Emergency Treatment in Irving, TX

A suspected blood clot needs an ultrasound, not a waiting list. We diagnose and treat DVT on-site, 24 hours a day. Median door-to-provider time is under 10 minutes. No appointment needed.

Why a Blood Clot Is an Emergency

A deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a clot that forms in a deep vein, usually in the leg. The danger is movement: a piece can break loose, travel to the lungs, and block blood flow as a pulmonary embolism. The CDC estimates up to 900,000 Americans are affected by venous blood clots each year, and 60,000 to 100,000 die from them.

The only way to confirm or rule out a DVT is imaging and lab work. We run both on-site, around the clock, and start treatment the same visit.

Why Choose ER of Irving for Blood Clot Treatment

How We Diagnose and Treat Blood Clots

Diagnosis happens under one roof. A venous ultrasound looks directly at the deep veins in your leg, and a D-dimer blood test measures clotting activity. If a pulmonary embolism is suspected, we run CT angiography of the chest through our on-site imaging suite.

When a clot is confirmed, anticoagulation starts the same visit, before you leave. Severe cases, such as a large pulmonary embolism, are stabilized and transferred directly to a hospital team with your imaging and records in hand. Either way, you go home knowing exactly what was found and what happens next.

Can Urgent Care Treat a Blood Clot?

Usually not. Most urgent care clinics cannot run the ultrasound that confirms a DVT, so suspected clots get referred out anyway.

Blood Clot Treatment Questions, Answered

Usually not. Diagnosing a DVT requires a venous ultrasound, and most urgent care clinics do not have ultrasound or the ability to start clot treatment. Suspected clots are referred to an ER anyway, so going straight to the ER saves hours when time matters.

Go to the ER. A suspected DVT needs same-day ultrasound, lab work, and immediate blood thinners if a clot is found. ER of Irving runs all three on-site, 24/7. If you have sudden shortness of breath or chest pain, call 911 instead.

Two ways, both on-site: a venous ultrasound that looks directly at the deep veins in your leg, and a D-dimer blood test that measures clotting activity. If a lung clot is suspected, we add CT angiography of the chest. Results come back the same visit.

That is a pulmonary embolism, and it can be fatal within hours. Warning signs are sudden shortness of breath, chest pain that worsens with breathing, coughing up blood, or fainting. Call 911 immediately. Do not drive yourself to the ER with these symptoms.

We accept most major insurance plans, and federal law requires insurers to cover emergency visits based on your symptoms, not the final diagnosis. Our team can also discuss self-pay options at check-in.
